Glimpse

by John Janzen © 2024

A shaken reed or sprouting weed,
A head of air like blimps.
I'm unimpressed with how I'm stressed,
When God gives me a glimpse.

I pause to glare or stop and stare,
At what my works produce
And in despair I must declare
I'm left without excuse.

A sifting through of me and you
Can serve to open eyes,
And help us find where we are blind,
To sin and compromise.

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ,
Atones for Adam's race,
Highlights the need of Adam's seed,
For mercy and for grace.

Humility is what we need,
Forgiveness of our sin.
In brokenness, from heart confess,
Be born again within.

Now justified, we feel alive,
God's love has made us new.
A joy abounds and hope surrounds,
Despite what we go through.

Our final breath and fear of death
has suffered a defeat.
In Jesus Christ, eternal life
In heaven is complete.
