Jonah 3

"I'm alive! Praise God!"

Jonah went straight to Nineveh and told the people to stop being so bad.

"If you don't change your ways, God will punish you!"

The king of Nineveh listened to Jonah and decided that Jonah was right.

"Everyone in my kingdom must change their ways! Be sorry for what you have done, and try to be good!"

Jonah went to a hill some distance from the city, to watch it being destroyed. He didn't know that the people were repenting, changing their ways.

"This ought to be good - I've got a good seat to watch the destruction from."

But when Jonah realized that the people of Nineveh were not going to be destroyed, he became angry!

"It's not fair! I went to all this trouble, and now I don't even get to see the city being destroyed, I wish you weren't so merciful and forgiving"

God decided to teach Jonah another lesson . . . God made a vine grow really quickly, to shade Jonah from the sun.

"Ah . . . That's nice"
