Sickness.
Who has not been sick at some time in their life? The whole world is still suffering from the effects of Adam and Eve's disobedience, it will not go away until Jesus returns.
But there are some positive things about sickness.
Sickness gives people an opportunity to care for someone. Sometimes the person we have never been able to talk to is suddenly open to our visit, or letter, or card.
Sickness gives Christians an opportunity to show that their faith is till strong. I remember going to see someone in the hospital. I expected them to be really down, so I was prepared to cheer them up, but it was the other way round. The sick person was a Christian and all the poor visitors got was a lecture on God!
Sickness can help to keep us humble. When we are healthy we are usually too busy to think much about Jesus.... but stick us in bed for a day, and give us some pain, and we're taking to Him all the time!
I remember when I was in hospital, my bed was parked beside another bed in which was a man who tried to tell me about evolution. I was able to tell him the creationist point of view before my bed was wheeled away to another room!
Now, who can I talk to?!
