313 - Be prosperours - Be generous

You would think that the best way to be prosperous is to work hard and save as much as you can? It doesn't see logical to think that by giving stuff away that you would actually become better off? Thats sounds quite nutty!

But the Bible actually teaches this. God says that if ear are generous, and giving, and are ready to share what we have with others, we will actually end up better off than if we hung on to everything.

But as usual God's Word challenges us to change the way we think. And when you think about it, what does a person become like when they hang on to everything? They often end up stingy, and resentful, sour and penny-pinching. They lose friends because all they think about is what they can GET rather than what they can GIVE. Even worse, non-generous people quite often end up poor!

The best example of generosity leading to prosperity is Jesus. He made Himself poor, yet He gave Himself every day, (and not just free meals and healings) His willingness to teach, and meet people, won thousands of hearts, and He never wanted for food, or clothes or a roof over his head all His life.

The Bible says: "The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that waters shall be watered also himself." Proverbs 11:25
