Shift Workers

by John Janzen © 2025

Night shift Mama -
Hush little baby
You don't need to cry
Mama's going to sing you
A lullaby

Day shift Daddy -
Silence please my darling
Not another peep
Daddy's really tired
And wants to get some sleep

Night shift Mama –
Shush tiny sweetheart
Let me wipe those tears
Mama's right beside you
To settle all your fears

Day shift Daddy –
There now little pumpkin
The hour is getting late
Close those heavy eyes now
Some shut eye would be great

Night shift Mama –
Sleep tiny human
I need another hour,
To come to terms with morning
And have a wakeup show'r

Day shift Daddy –
Mornin' little sunshine
Aren't you cute today?!
Ready for some action
Food and fun and play?!

Night shift Mama –
I'll praise you in the morning
As soon as I'm awake
Thank You for this hand full
And all who pillows make

Day shift Daddy –
Weeping for the night
Has given way to day
Joy comes in the morning
Hope is on the way

Lovingkindness in the morning
and God's faithfulness at night
Shift workers are provided
All it takes to raise kids right
