It seems that I am living
in a house with a leaking roof,
where I run with my buckets
trying to capture love's real proof.
Fear and pain falls on my face,
repairing seems beyond my scope,
where my scars of broken dreams
saturate all my living hope.
Patching the roof through effort
based solely on my strength and pride,
where God's grace is left unknown
and I'm broken by what I tried.
I am busy building walls
made from my feeble wood of shame,
where connection is misplaced
in my haste to proclaim my nameā¦
Time to dwell in God's refuge
living sure in His kind embrace,
where there is no leaking roof
for its secure within His grace.
