Walking hopeful paths of freedom
Under cloudless azure skies
Straight and true toward the sunset
A happy life before us lies.
Rocks and stones beset the pathway
Then we know we have been fooled
Stumbling over fallen branches
Life's enjoyment soon has cooled.
When we analyze our journey
It is a longing to be free
And all hindrances removing
So more pleasures we may see.
If we only knew this bondage
We would walk another way
But the worldly chains that hold us
Will insure our feet will stray.
But the Grace that sought and found us
Opened up our eyes to see
Chains of Love are held around us
Chains that set our spirits free.
This, the truest freedom ever
This, the manner of His Hand
Held by Love, where else to wander?
When we occupy His Land.
Chained but free, this is our portion
When, with Him we walk the road
This, oh this, is truest freedom
He who bore our heavy load.
Walk in Truth, forsake all falsehood
Straight ahead towards the Prize
Hold the gaze forever heavenward
He the Goal before our eyes.
