Between the Cross and Glory

Somewhere between the bitter and the broken,
where the blaming meets the token;
comes the disconnected man,
with all his puffing and excuses,
always bluffing - grace he abuses.

Somewhere between the hollow and the shallow,
where my hope is left hanging on the gallows;
comes the pretending man,
with all his acting and bravado,
shame just hiding - a desperado.

Somewhere between the anger and regret,
where the beauty is easy to forget;
comes the desperate man,
with all his searching and pursuing,
always lurching - games he's construing…

Somewhere between two thieves,
where You died - so our death leaves;
comes my salvation free,
with life forevermore,
Your glory I adore.

Somewhere between faithfulness and compassion,
where God's love is displayed without ration;
comes the sacrificial Man,
with all His mercy and forgiveness,
releasing to all of us - life's richness.

Somewhere between the healed and the scarred,
where true blessings thrive - despite the hard;
comes the reconnected man,
with all his purpose and his meaning
found in God's service - grace intervening.
