Umm, I'm not sure that what I hear
is truthful, honestly.
It's hard to fathom what you say —
it makes no sense to me.
I'm not naïve — I'm skeptical
that what you say is true.
I'll need some proof — some evidence,
as something seems askew.
Come, sit a while and think things through,
perhaps your tale should change.
Now take a breath before you speak —
let's have a nice exchange.
I'll give you one more chance to change
the story that you've told.
Convince me that your words are true —
make sure, this time, I'm sold.
Remember . . .
The good LORD's watching over you
He sees and knows your heart.
At times, He shakes His head with all
the half-truths you impart.
