TEMPTATION IS AN EVIL ACT

that lures—attracts—and snares.
It spins a web to catch its prey—
to seize the good LORD's heirs.
It leads its prey away from God—
Yahweh, our Mighty King,
and draws its victims to the dark—
no good does evil bring.
And though our spirits are willing—
our flesh is very weak.
We are enticed by "things" we want—
by "things" our hearts do seek.
Let's pray the good LORD leads us from
temptation and its snares,
Let's watch, and set our eyes on God,
and keep each one in prayer.
"And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."
(Matthew 6:13, NIV)
Please lead us from temptation, LORD—
onto Your tranquil grounds.
Protect us from the evil ones
who wants us ever bound.
