Learning the Truth

she's empty in the shadows
scars written on her heart,
carved through her emotions,
fears tearing her apart.

she wanders lost and lonely
though on Facebook she does shout,
pain disguised by makeup
applied by shame and doubt.

she longs to feel real beauty
for her mirror tells a lie,
not in its reflection
but in her perceptions eye.

she's wounded by illusion
false lashes lay in dust,
value dismissed by shallow,
precious; held in her disgust.

she cuts to mask the pain
bleeding in a hopeless chase,
hurting the feeble surface,
hidden scars will not erase.

she desires for attention
just not the type that she attracts,
to be deeply loved and cherished
lost in the rush to find – "distracts"

God knows her real true beauty
for He created it to be,
He died to show her value
healing deeper than she can see.

she needs to rest in favour
learning the depth of God's delight,
surrendering to words of truth
pain – she no longer has to fight.

she can leave behind the bitter
leaving it in faithful hands of strength,
blooming in the blessing of God's grace
she learns the lesson of her wealth.
