The Eagle Within

by Annie B © 2024

Lord, I'm not an eagle, soaring on the other's breast;
Yet, in my spirit, I hold onto what You know is best.
With eyes that seek the horizon's vast expanse,
My heart beats with the rhythm of the skies so vast.

I'm not cloaked in feathers, nor was I born to fly;
But, with Your spirit, I ascend to touch Your boundless sky.
My wings are but dreams, my talons- hope and might;
My perch-the quiet thoughts that come to me every night.

Though I may tread the earth, my vision is clear;
I see beyond the veil that others may fear.
With eyes that pierce the shadows, seeking truth and light,
You are the guardian of all spiritual fights.

The heart of an eagle burns within my chest-
A fiery passion for the sacred quest.
Through storms and tempests, I can never swerve,
For I am bound to conquer, and always serve.

Lord, I'm not an eagle, graced with my wings to soar;
Yet, in my heart, I will hold much more-
The courage to face each rising sun,
The will to conquer battles, that You have already won.

I may not glide on winds that sweep and play;
But, in my heart, I know You will show the way.
With every challenge, every trial, every scorn,
I'll rise above the moment I become reborn.

The essence of God's eagle is in me, it's true-
A spirit fierce, a vision unyielding and new.
Lord, though I am not the King of the skies,
Within me now burns the same fiery eyes.

In Your great tapestry of life and land,
Let my spirit ascend, let me understand-
The freedom that the eagle knows so well,
Your boundless grace that in Your skies dwell.

So, let me be Your eagle in the hearts of all,
A symbol of strength, when spirits fall.
Tho' I am not the eagle, but You have my soul-
With wings made of passion, reaching for Your goal,
