I'm lured before a haunted house
by voices in my head.
The screams and shouts and eerie sounds
are echoes from the dead.
I am enchanted by a spell
that's captured me this night.
It calls my name and draws me close—
a charm that I can't fight.
I'm scared—I scream—I lift my voice
and call upon the LORD.
With everything within my soul
I beg, I pray, implore.
'Tis then a Light shines from above
and lifts me from this place.
It carries me to tranquil grounds
where God fills me with grace.
He blesses me from head-to-toe
and shelters me from harm.
He wipes my tears and takes my fears
while I am in His arms.
I know I'm always in God's reach—
He's ever by my side,
but when I take my eyes from Him
I morally backslide.
And that's what happened on this night
that caused me fear—such fright.
I took my eyes away from God
and walked in my own light.
