We spend our days in giving chase
No thought of what will be
We stumble through a list "to do"
Inevitability
We seldom ask about our task
What of eternity?
In here and now we miss somehow
Inevitability
We set a pace of quickened haste
To varying degree
Without regard for lessons hard
Inevitability
It comes to mind that we may find
As daylight hours flee
Our hurry waned; perspective gained
Inevitability
A judgment day is on its way
And unsurprisingly
No timely cry will then deny
Inevitability
In frantic thought, joy or distraught
We'll launch our final plea
To right or left, to life or death
Inevitability
