Ode to the Gentleness of God (Titus 3:5)

by Annie B © 2024

The mighty tide of mercy, vast as boundless skies
Flows from God's own heart, where divine love abides.
With grace unfurled and kindness as the dawn,
He washes our weary souls, where once there was scorn.

Not by our own might, nor by our own right,
In righteousness and hope we shine so bright;
But, by the love of God, we are made anew;
Through every trial, through every shade of truth.

His kindness never leads us to any wrath or scorn,
He guides the weary spirits who are forlorn.
But, with a gentle whisper, soft as dawn's first light,
To shores of peace, where every fear will take flight.

The Savior's tender gaze, so full of care,
Our hearts, once cold as winter's frozen air,
Bathes us in the warmth of boundless love,
Now kindled by the warmth sent from above.

We who were once ensnared in sin's dark lair,
Now breathe the sweetness of salvation's air.
The gentle touch wiped out our every tear,
And turned our mourning into a morning fair.

God's tenacious grace shed like rain upon the earth;
And, the beauty of the Savior's heavenly birth;
Soften hearts of stone and make them whole;
Has made us heirs of heaven's priceless role.

We marinate in this divine embrace;
Our sins forgotten, as we find our place.
Where love and kindness mingle in a dance,
In God's eternal, ever-patient glance.

This gentle God, whose mercy never ends,
He waits for us with open arms that transcends;
Whose love for us ascends without a ceiling,
The vast expanse of time, forever kneeling.

May we, with hearts made soft and pure as snow,
And let our lives forever glow and grow,
Reflect on this kindness that we have been shown,
In the sweet warmth of God's embracing zone.

So let us sing an ode to Him who saves;
Whose love is like a balm to our world that craves;
To the One who tenderly redeems the lost,
In every gentle act of grace and mercy at any cost.

In quiet moments, when the world is still,
Comes the trumpet's call to God's merciful, sweet will.
