Ode to Life's Emergent

by Annie B © 2024

For in the tomb of our own darkened night,
We find the promise of a new day's light.
A union with the Christ who rose so high,
In love and grace, He chose to die.

We plunge into the waters of His might,
Where sin is swallowed in the sea of white.
Our chains unbound, our souls set free,
In this immersion, we find life's decree.

The tomb that held our Lord so still,
Now breathes with life, His will fulfilled.
As we emerge, our hearts aflame,
We leave behind the shadow's claim.

Death, once feared, a mighty foe,
Now crumbles underneath God's glow.
For in the grave, our life began,
A cycle broken by the Son of Man.

O sweet release from mortal coil,
O transformation, surpassing loyalty;
The power that could not be contained,
Death did not leave its stain.

We stand in awe before the throne,
Where love has conquered bone by bone.
A new creation, born of grace,
The old has passed, behold His face!

The cross, once symbol of despair,
Now gleams with hope beyond compare.
For in that moment, at Calvary's peak,
The captive soul could now gladly speak.

Let every heart, let every tongue,
In joyful praise to Christ belong.
For in His death, we live anew,
In Him we find our life pursuits.

The grave no longer will get its way,
We live in Jesus' name each day.
Our sins are forgotten, in His embrace,
We rise in Him because His extravagant grace.

Now let us live in endless song,
To God who righted every wrong.
Our lives a testament, our souls so bright,
In union with the Source of Light.

In Jesus' name, we live and breathe,
Our destiny in Him we seize.
The sting of death, the fear of night,
Driven away by resurrection's might.

To God the Father, God the Son,
God the Spirit, triune but ever one,
In Jesus' name, we will live and die,
Our souls are ascending to the sky.
