Ode to God's Embrace of Freedom

by Annie B © 2024

In the shadow of the cross where darkness fled,
Where the Son of God His life so willingly shed,
There lies a truth, a promise, bright and clear,
Which whispers softly to the weary ear,
"You are free!" and hearts once bound begin to sing,
The chains of sin and death at last take wing.

Oh, sweet release from bondage's cruel cage
The yoke of guilt that we no longer engage;
The burden heavy, the path obscured,
Now lifted high, our spirits soared.
Christ's sacrifice, the price so dear,
Has brought us life, and has conquered fear.

We stand redeemed, our sins cast out,
In the crimson tide of your love that's devout;
The old is gone, behold the new,
In your likeness, Lord, our hearts renew.
The power of sin, we do not serve,
Your grace alone, we can observe.

For as we die to self each day,
In Your resurrection, we find our way.
A life transformed, a heart made whole,
Your love, the guiding light to our soul's goal.
The end of sin's dominion, the start of grace,
A path of life, a heavenly race.

We bask in freedom's warm embrace,
Where love and mercy help our race.
Our shackles were rusted, chains unlocked,
We dance in freedom's endless clock.
The power that raised you from the dead,
Now lives in us, our souls well fed.

Let every tongue and heart proclaim,
Your matchless name that broke the chain.
Jesus, our Redeemer, our loving Light,
In you we live, in you we fight.
Our hope secured, our future bright,
In you, we find our true delight.

So let us live, no longer bound,
But free in you, our hearts unwound.
To serve with joy, to love with cheer,
Your grace is our banner, year by year.
For in your death, we live anew,
The captives free, the meek pursue.

To you, our Lord, our endless song,
Our hearts in freedom, forever long,
To sing the praises of Your name,
Our souls are released from sin's domain.
May freedom's anthem rise and ring,
As we in grace, our lives will bring,
