The Light of the World Went Out

by Royston

The dastardly deed had been done.
We had crucified God the Son.
This wonderful Man called Jesus,
stretched out His arms so wide for us.

"Forgive them, dear Father," He said,
and to cleanse, us His blood was shed.
Then, "It is finished." Jesus cried,
as He bowed down His head and died.

There the price for our sin was paid
by the sacrifice He had made.
As the Light of the World went out
the awful darkness could be felt

As He breathed His last earthly breath,
He entered the kingdom of death.
Then taking Satan's army on
a mighty victory He won.

Bursting from the grave He arose
having conquered all of His foes.
Now He stands a glorious sight
resplendent in Eternal Light.
