True Love

Most everyone wants to feel loved.
It seems so natural.
But giving love is better still,
It makes us all stand tall.

Yet giving love can sometimes be
A painful thing to do.
Appreciation may not come
The way we want it to.

Experience with suffering
Will help our love to grow,
And transcend any painful love
That we might have to Know.

So even if we don't expect
That we'll be recognized,
Our sacrifice for someone else
Is blessed in God's eyes.

No greater love than this can be
When we direct our will,
To give ourself for someone else,
Our purpose to fulfill .
