Sensitivities

by Eugene Whitney © 2025

We all have sensitivities
Imprinted from our past.
The problem that we have with them
Is that they tend to last.

We know we are so sensitive
Because of how we act.
We say or do things we regret,
When pain becomes a fact.

But if that isn't bad enough,
This problem gets much worse.
When sensitivities collide
Reactions are perverse.

If our friend is controlling us
But we need to feel free,
Our sensitivities will clash
To quite a large degree.

But God also wants us all to
Compassionately feel
With empathy for all people
To show God's love is real.

When we focus on other's needs
And sensitivities,
Instead of on our own feelings,
God's love through us will please.
