Ode to the New Life

by Annie B © 2025

Oh, sacred verse of Roman lore, wherein we find
the truth that sets the captive soul unbound.
Where chains of sin are broken and we ascend
to heights of grace where darkness never confounds.

In tombs of guilt and sorrow once confined,
we slumbered beneath the heavy hand of night.
But then, in the dawn of Jesus' love, we find
His grace, and our spirits can now take their flight.

Baptized in Christ, we rise anew,
from sin's dark prison, washed in crimson tide.
Where death had claimed its victory so true;
now, life in its fullness will forever abide.

We stand in Him, alive and free to view
the vast expanse of endless possibility.
Where once we knew only bondage cruel;
now, we embrace the sweet, sweet liberty.

In this union, the soul with the spirit blend.
The old has passed, the new has come to be
a living sacrifice, we're called to bend
where sin can never hold its sway over me.

Let every pulse, each breath we draw,
sings praises to the One who bought us back.
Let every step we take, each word we speak,
reflect the love that never knew a lack.

We walk in newness, day by day -
Our hearts aflame with holy fire,
Our souls a canvas for Him to play
His symphony of love and power higher.

The blessed hour, when we were found,
When from the ash, like phoenix we rose,
In Christ we're bound, forever crowned
where sin and death shall be to us closed.

So let us go forth, unshackled and unchained
to live this life, no longer bound by fear.
With every step, our hearts proclaimed
a declaration of the victory that remains near.
