What or whom do we fear, where shallow waters flow?
With daily news, anxieties that shock our eyes
While pleasant news, provides a smokescreen in disguise
Delaying for a time, though soon more fears will show.
How can we overcome these fears and stem the tide?
Of each returning wave on wave of weariness
On shores of hope but sinking sands of dreariness
And nothing but our inmost thoughts to steer and guide.
The perfect Love of God will cast out every fear
Through faith in His almighty Love and perfect Grace
He, who is holding all the universe in place
Is far beyond the way those things on earth appear.
The only fear to have, is a healthy fear of Him
He, who is a consuming fire, Almighty God
Yet one with us in Christ, whose humble feet have trod
The Way we follow now, where Light does not grow dim.
