Taste of Transcendence

by John Janzen © 2025

Transcendence, even just a taste
Of what is called sublime
A fragment of the promised whole
A morsel beyond time

That enigmatic essence of
Those things now out of view
The world of worlds beyond this world
Where false gives way to true

How long a yearning for this place
In reverence must last
Is not afforded us to know
Nor how the die is cast

Contented to pursue His life
On narrow road or strait
As image bearers of the Lord
Joint heirs of His estate

In patience and in faithfulness
Affections set above
We live in new reality
Within the Son of Love

But haste the day our eyes shall see
What once our hearts have known
The secrets of eternity
The splendors of your throne
