From Sinful Pleasure To a Life of Treasure

by Billy Creighton © 2025

When Satan was my master
Always was I in want
I grazed not on green pastures
To feed my empty heart

Neither did he lead me
Besides the still waters
I satisfied my thirst
Upon sin's dark altars

No rod or staff to comfort me
As I tread the path to hell
To suffer eternal agony
For sins too gross to tell

My heart lay cold in sorrow
Deep in the valley of shame
Until the Good Shepherd called me
Softly by my name

Now I rest in pastures green
And drink of still waters of peace
He leads me on the pathway
My life in Him is complete

My cup overflows with goodness
My life in Him is aright
And though Death Valley awaits me,
I will never fear the night

Goodness and mercy follow me
Through all of my days
For you are now my Shepherd
And forever with you I will stay
