A Warrior for the LORD

by Kristine Stanton © 2025

I am a warrior for the LORD —
in armor I am dressed.
From head-to-toe this covering
is my protective vest.

It shields me from the enemy
who preys upon the weak.
He fights on unseen battlegrounds —
my soul is what he seeks.

He temps — He lures — He does deceive
and tries to capture me,
but when I fix my eyes on God,
the LORD is who I see.

It's when I firmly stand in faith
and trust in God — most wise,
the demon flees when I resist
and don't believe his lies.

The good LORD grants me strength to fight
against authorities —
unseen powers of the dark
who hunt and come to seize.

They want to draw me from the LORD
and take hold of my soul.
But Yahweh armors me each day
so I can't be cajoled.
