Within the quicksands of the world
So many spongy steps unfold
There is no solid way
Whatever road we move along
It is a world where we belong
We know its sad decay.
And if not sand, an earthquake will
Turn what is flat, into a hill
Where solid buildings fall
Stability man seeks to find
But nothing works upon the blind
Each door becomes a wall.
Only one Rock on which to stand
The Rock that rests in any land
The only place to be
We stand unmoved upon the Word
Who we have known, and we have heard
And only Him to see.
This fixed place in the universe
Where sin can never hold its curse
We will not move from there
With heavenly armour held in place
And eyes are fixed upon His Face
Done all, to stand in prayer.
