ME

by Kristine Stanton © 2025

My eyes have witnessed many things —
past times you'll never see.
The wrinkles on my weathered face
were earned — they're part of me.

My gray-white beard had once been brown
and turned o'er many years.
The wisdom that I've gained through time
was learned through sweat and tears.

The crooked nose upon my face
was broken once or twice.
It's when I saved a life or two
my nose had paid the price.

I have survived this changing world
through many highs and lows.
Each made me what I am today
and taught me what I know.

So, as you peer into my eyes
you'll see an aging man —
a man who's seen so many things
throughout his long life span.

And though I've grown to be this age
there's still life left in me.
I have so many things to do
and things I've yet to see.

There're many plans that I have made
that I'd like to fulfill.
But, only if the LORD concurs
and if it's of His Will.
