A weathered face — a look of woe —
I had no place to go.
So many places in this world
but none I'd come to know.
No place called home where I could sleep —
no soft or cozy bed.
No place to shelter me from cold
nor rest my weary head.
I lived from day to day alone —
was hungry and in pain.
Poor — penniless, with tattered clothes —
my lifestyle was inane.
My eyes were windows to my soul
that cried out every night.
They wept with hopeless dreams each day
and wished my burdens light.
So many passersby had heard
my desperate, helpless cries,
but not one person seemed to care —
they mocked — they scorned — chastised.
And then one day a kindly man
had come and stood by me.
He took my hand and helped me up
with mercy — graciously.
There was a peace about this man —
I felt it deep within.
My spirit leapt for joy that day
and my heart wore a grin.
He said His name was Jesus Christ —
the Son of God and Man,
and that He came to rescue me,
as it was Yahweh's Plan.
I was set free that very day
and now I have a HOME —
a HOME with the LORD Jesus Christ —
no longer will I roam.
