Wisdom vs Foolishness

by Kristine Stanton © 2025

"The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands
the foolish one tears hers down."
(Proverbs 14: 1, NIV)

A wise wo-man will build her home
with tools bestowed by God,
and its foundation will be firm
not one of sand, nor sod.

With wisdom, she will follow Plans
devised by our good LORD —
He has designed the perfect ones
for all to be explored.

She'll also nourish soulful peace —
promote God's love and grace.
She'll cultivate and grow her faith
while seeking the LORD's face.

Now, . . .

A fool will try to build her home
with plans of her own choice.
She won't petition the LORD's help,
nor listen to His voice.

She will destroy that very home
by means of her own hands,
when all her words, her actions, deeds
don't meet with Yahweh's Plans.

She'll carry heavy loads each day —
huge burdens on her back,
while stumbling over stone-filled paths —
direction she will lack.

But if she lays her burdens down
before the good LORD's feet,
and trusts His wisdom — perfect Plans —
He'll help 'til they're complete.

The LORD will be the Corner Stone —
Foundation for her home.
It's when these things align with God
her heart and soul won't roam.

Her faith's foundation will be strong —
withstanding temp-ta-tion.
Her strength will come from the good LORD
and void of de-struc-tion.
