All that the human mind can know
Or human longings face
These really link to long ago
When Jesus came in Love to show
And suffer in my place.
Despite the misery of sin
And all my hopeless case
The weary planet still would spin
Jesus in Love would enter in
To suffer in my place.
And though it might be only me
Who showed to Him disgrace
His Love would mark eternity
For it was only ever He
who suffered in my place.
If there could be another way
To all my sin displace
Man's hopeless efforts would convey
That Jesus and His Blood must pay
And suffer in my place.
Matchless the Love the whole earth draws
For all is sovereign Grace
Though He was killed without a cause
I stand in righteousness because
He suffered in my place.
