beneath the verse
a hidden curse,
vows just rehearsed;
pain not reversed.
love a weapon
now used in spite,
cruel self beckons;
ease leads the fight.
shallow embraced
amid the haste,
scar's now erased;
with pride replaced.
wounds left to hurt
beneath the dirt,
grief we divert;
by shame's desert.
passion corrupted
by our twisted thoughts,
beauty disrupted
by a worldly course.
grace now departs
through our selfish hearts,
ugly stain starts;
broken – in all parts…
wounds, in His hands
love – not demands,
our broken strands;
Christ understands.
healing found in worship
putting Jesus first,
stunning grace stirs up
making Him our thirst.
vows – chosen each day
from them never stray,
God's faithfulness survey;
when tempted – always pray…
beneath the verse
a hidden depth,
vows weight disburse;
with God – our strength.
