Spaces in Between

by John Janzen © 2025

Life is like a highlight reel
Replete with highs and lows
Momentary victories
And times you hang your nose

Testimonies brim with both
The good times and the bad
Both joys inexpressible
And difficulties had

Highlights often steal the show
And skew reality
Folks can often get confused
About what life should be

Some may come to half expect
A ping-pong game of life
Sudden movements back and forth
From happiness to strife

Misconceptions here abound
And truth is clearly seen
Most of life on earth is spent
In spaces in between

Travel time from peak to peak
Can seem to last an age
Seasons of the difficult
Like every other page

God who hears the sinner's call
No humble prayer denies
Faith and grace to fill the gaps
He readily supplies

Let us praise the Lord above
For peaks and valleys seen
Thank Him most for faithfulness
In spaces in between
