BURDENS

by Kristine Stanton © 2025

I had so many burdens
I carried on my back.
My heart and soul were hurting,
'cause faith is what I lacked.

And then one day, a kind man
had seen me weighted down,
with face in hands and crying,
and kneeling on the ground.

He stopped and whispered something —
His words I could not hear.
He touched my hand — helped me up,
'twas then it was quite clear.

This gentle man was Jesus,
who saw I was in pain
from all my worldly troubles
I carried with disdain.

He lifted all my burdens
and placed them on His back.
Christ promised He would keep them
each heavy, burdened sack.

He set me free on that day.
Since then, my faith has grown.
It's now, I leave my burdens
at my Savior's Throne.

I claim Christ — my Redeemer,
as my LORD, every day,
and trust that He won't lead me
on paths where I'd fall prey.
