Steered from Hopelessness

by Kristine Stanton © 2025

Bombs destroyed our tiny home —
a ravaging death blow.
We sat in rubble with despair,
and had no place to go.

This left us helpless, without hope —
we lost all of our "things,"
but what we had was faith in God,
who is our vast Wellspring.

He saw us through these desperate times
and took away our fright.
God carried us when we were weak
and kept us in His Light.

He steered us from our hopelessness
and gave us needed rest.
And though we lost our home, and "things,"
we realized we were blessed.

We had each other — we had God,
who saved our lives from harm.
He sheltered us beneath His wing
and held us in His arms.
