a fool writing in a journal
inking shame in a rhyming verse,
seeking deep beyond external,
my selfish pride, becomes my curse.
depth of meaning still escapes my pen,
lost in the images of my boast,
surrender; missing from my amen,
wondering, who I serve the most.
when sharing, doubts begin to rise,
not in the faithful heart of God
more in the shallow of my disguise;
in the quiet – I feel the Spirit's prod…
as I sit down to write another line
from my insecurities may I flee,
seeking deeper words of God's design,
still a fool for Christ, may I always be.
