I've wandered in the wasteland
where pride disrupts my sight,
trying hard to understand,
just - broken from the fight.

I've struggled with my failure
living with head downcast,
confused by my behaviour,
just - feeling an outcast.

I have been bruised by life
been searching for real hope,
consumed by all my strife,
in self-pity - I grope!

I need now to surrender,
to come home where I belong,
no longer a pretender
in God's strength - a brand new song.

from pain I rise above,
embracing God's shalom,
resting secure in His love
knowing I am home.

home - is in God's will,
in His grace - be still,
kneel before His throne;
home - where I am known.
