The Glass Blower

by Fraser McDougall © 2023

dusts of the earth, molten, fused
together forever like air and sky

sons and daughters, low-born, high,
friends that he shapes by ache and sigh,

the delicate orchid, the snowdrop lace
a swan from his palette, bowed by grace

a hand for a pencil, a ready tongue
expressing the breath of the blower's lungs
