God's Lifeline

Even from the beginning
Before we ever met
You'd offer me a lifeline
When I found myself upset
When the walls around me were crumbling
But before the last one fell
You'd whisper ever so softly
To "step off the carousel"
To know that you were near me
Just waiting for the day
When I would see beyond myself
To trust in you, and pray
It happened, and I'm thankful
Because now, before I fall
I ask you for a lifeline
And to reinforce that wall
I've never had a problem
That you would not help me through
I may often need a lifeline
But I can always count on your
