The Use of Words

by Paul Purday

Words have a double meaning often times
According to the focus of their chosen source
To show which spirit holds and primes
the mind and heart that will direct the course
where words are aimed, and what they're meant to say
For this, the end result is to convey.

We live within the world's 'diversity'
Which we will celebrate in all its worth
'Affirmation' and 'inclusion' we will see
As rightful words to use within the Earth
But when the spirit of the world is there
These words, a different meaning will declare.

This system does not differentiate
For all are welcome in its diverse home
They are protected by the use of 'hate'
A word, the real meaning will dethrone
For God hates sin, and that is why Christ died
It was for us that He was crucified.

Sin's word, within this world is not allowed
For all may be included in, by man
God's Holiness will never reach the proud
Acceptance preaches to the human clan
The Bible's words by many are ignored
The wayward kingdom of this world adored.

Now, we will stand 'affirmed,' 'included in'
'Diverse' we are, accepted through His Grace
The Spirit's work, convicting us of sin
And through the Cross, we stand before His Face
In wonder at His sacrificial Love
The inlet to the Light of heaven above!
