John

by Robert Abraham Abraham © 2025

Born by the Sea of Galilee
Another son of Zebedee
Here he became a fisherman
Until he heard the call from Thee

Then writing the Apocalypse
In a place, bleak, barren and dark
With Christ's Words on his fingertips
And fire in his apostle's heart

Warning seven churches that day
Of events that were on their way
That would shake the heavens and earth
And bring forth covenantal birth

That old Jerusalem would fall
Before the seventh trumpet call
And New Jerusalem descend
As moved by a holy wind

For there would be a peaceful reign
Lasting at least a thousand years
Then Christ will end the mortal stain
As He removes the final tears

Now John grew old at Ephesus
Warning saints of all that is false
So teaching them and teaching us
To count Christ won and all else lost.
