Coming Winters Lead to Springs

by Randy Richmond © 1520

When from this carriage our soul steps down
When our hands and hearts have stilled
Our greenest valleys turned to brown
Our last plans left unfulfilled

Last thoughts caught up with the wind
Drift away as final words unspoken
No chance the promise to rescind
Made but now counted broken

Our day's chores will go unfinished
Best seller books will not be written
Other lives will be diminished
Who once with us were smitten

Tears will fall like warmest rain
To mark these sad events
Hearts will hurt with grieving strain
Until time with reluctance relents

It's true as our loved ones mourn our passings
As a moment that's darkened their sun
But as we stepped down there were angels amassing
And truly…our lives just had begun

So hold on loves to our memory
And to the things you know to be true
But hang on tightest to the treasury
Heaven's promise has in store for you!
