Looking Up

by Randy Richmond © 2008

In this next twinkling of an eye
Should You return from Heaven high
Will I have passed the only test?
Lord will You take me to Your breast?
Hold my hand and walk with me?
Light that valley, calm the sea?
Till we've reached that wondrous shore
Of peace and pardon evermore?
Where songs have never been more sweet
Will there be familiar saints to greet?
When from Earth again You take Your leave
Will it be enough that I've believed?
Will You carry me home because I've prayed
Or swing your mount and ride away?
Will I have done all I must do
To assure eternity with You?
You've had my trust, my love, and praise
Even through the darker days
You are my Savior, whose scars have paid
The only price for Your promise made
So, I'll lift my eyes toward the sky
To wait the next twinkling of an eye
Or this one
or this one
or this…
or…
