When the Last Tear Falls

by Randy Richmond © 2021

Tears that flow freely, are nothing more really
Than a soothing salve for the soul
To we those bereaved, lives once tightly weaved
To the halves that once were our whole

Sometimes they just trickle, wish we had a nickel
For each time one would escape
Other times at home, when we're all alone
They'll fall like wet ticker tape

Every mile that we travel, each day a battle
To find more smiles than frowns
To sing happier songs as we go along
Hoping for more ups than downs

So with my sad rhyme, my wish is that time
Will send to us all sunny skies
To walk heads upright, laugh with delight
See the world again with dry eyes

Till all to us is revealed, our hearts too, Heaven healed
Where there are no more goodbyes…
