A tree cannot increase before our eyes
To see the trunk grow thick and branches grow
But in a few decades, 'neath earthly skies
We find there is a larger tree to show.
We know each season, leaves will be displayed
And fruit will yield with regularity
But growth in height and deeper roots arrayed
Show greater robustness for all to see.
If we will grow in Grace, it is the time
that this will take for deeper roots to prove
strength in our lives, and greater heights to climb
Then when the storms have come, we will not move.
We grow at different speeds, God's Life to know
Who, with a gentle Hand, tends each, so we
will find maturity, and overflow
with Love, where only Jesus is the key.
