Beneath the Cross

beneath the cross of Jesus
I gain perspective to my life,
in the middle of Christ's burden
where love meets me in my strife.

in amongst the blood stained dirt
I see what my pride has done,
reflecting on His mercy,
knowing new life has begun.

as I see His wounds and tears
I know the value of my soul,
held in the Saviour's favour
my name written in His scroll.

kneeling - lifting eyes to Jesus
sees hope rise to life again,
in turmoil, I see my purpose
as true love removes my stain.

come before His stunning grace
let it transform your sight,
learn the message of its voice,
dwelling always in His light.

beneath the cross of Jesus
where shame and grace collide,
in the midst of its shadow
is life that Christ provides.
