I Pray

by Debra Brent © 2026

I pray to You, dear Lord above,
That on this day, feel only love;
Gift promises of light and hope,
For those still struggling to cope.

I pray unto each wounded soul,
You help to heal, prune, watch them grow;
Shed unbeliefs, trauma, and pain,
Freedom from sin, Tis You they gain.

I pray one day that no disease,
Spreads rampant through any country;
Come of a time where hatred lies,
In not a single pair of eyes.

I pray hunger, You wipe away,
From bellies of who had no say;
Violence discarded, cast aside,
Replaced with faith, to You, abide.

I pray for harmony and peace,
A span in which terror does cease;
Where fear is but a fleeting thought,
'Cause every villain has been caught.

I pray children who strayed from You,
Will turn around, build life anew;
That greed and fame won't co-exist,
Upon even just one checklist.

I pray to You on bended knee,
This world would clean up its debris;
Shed of our condescending ways,
Unite as one through grace and praise.

I pray the flow of tears shall dry,
As hurt's released into the sky;
Mend broken hearts and shattered pasts.
Nobody deems themselves outcast.

I pray, dear Lord, for one more thing,
A message only You can bring
Open up minds, no longer roam,
Guide us towards roads which lead back home.
