Step Over

We have a line marked in the sand
The dusty track for sandalled feet
The desert grit and its demand
With its defeat
Will show us where we live, and where we meet.

There is a resurrection line
That we may cross through faith
A different food on which to dine
And to embrace
The heavenly language of amazing Grace.

To stay this side we often will
And find religion marks the way
But not enough to mount the Hill
In safety stay
A well-known path, where white will turn to grey.

Have we not seen the other side?
Where worlds of wonder will await
The heavenly dowry of the Bride
Before too late
And in His great long-suffering Love will wait.

He footsteps are from star to star
His wonders like the rivers flow
In which we plunge, His reservoir
There we will go
A world of Grace is ours while here below.

No eye can see nor ear can hear
Beyond the universe to see
Things of this world will disappear
And is the key
To live in light of God's eternity.

The open door through which we pass
Bids all our eyes to see the new
And not look back to earthly grass -
The better view
is now afforded by the heavenly blue.
