A poet's heart cannot impart
But such as it has learned
A prompt from God in rose or rod
Retained instead of spurned
The lessons gained and hence explained
Display a master stroke
Transcendent cause produces pause
As awe these words invoke
A willing pen now and again
May serve for God's intent
To wax and wane or fan a flame
To spend or to be spent
By pen or quill or typing skill
The message is displayed
The Lord is God and we are not
Decisively conveyed
A sage or fool, a guide or tool
A vessel in His hand
For best or worst, as blest or cursed
With Christ we take our stand
No sword nor shield, but what we wield
May penetrate the soul
A call to Christ, eternal life
To make the sinner whole
So scribe the word, though thought absurd
By rebel rousing crowd
No taunt or jeer will produce fear
To truth we are avowed
