Christmas Eve

by Connie K Cameron

Sitting close, as I remember
In our church, for midnight mass
Again our family comes together
This last year has gone so fast

"Oh Holy Night" Mom is singing
Along with others in the choir
Crisp and clear, voices ringing
Music lifting spirits higher

With gifts and trees our minds are filled
For more than presents we delight
Even though the air is chilled
One lone star keeps burning bright

New born baby, in a manger
Grew to be our saving grace
Filling hearts of friends and strangers
Who long to see our Savior's face

Lifting hands, we worship our Lord
On Christmas Eve, it's come at last
All the voices in one accord
Another year has come and passed

Hope and faith are in us growing
Along with faith comes peace and love
If year round this fruit was showing
Smiling with us, God above
