A Father's Life

by Connie K Cameron

He once was a baby
Beginning to walk
He cried and he crawled
He learned how to talk

With tick of the clock
Minutes turned into hours
The infant turned child
Through God's Holy power

Days into weeks as
He looks in the mirror
This child becomes teen
Looking back on his years

He grows to adulthood
Passing through life
Meets his young soul mate
And makes her his wife

Together they're blessed
With a gift that is true
A baby to care for
This child, so new

Not a house but a home
With children to raise
He loved each one deeply
For all of his days

Time raced by quickly
Soon emptys the nest
Ups and downs conquered
In Gods own life test

I thank God for fathers
Loving gentle and wise
In the Holy plan that
The Lord did devise

Dad's come to the finish
The prize he has won
He ascends into heaven
To be God's own son

I miss my dear father
I send him my love
We'll all be together
Someday up above
